Mesa Vista - My BaCC for fun: Week 4, Part 14 - Sims

Welcome back to Mesa Vista and Marie Sims’ household.
As I mentioned in my last update, from now on I’ll be posting shorter updates with less writing so I won’t get so bogged down.
“Does that sound fair to you, Moonshine?”
“Meowope.”




This was Moonshine’s second visit, and he let Marie adopt him quickly.






I thought he and Sake might get into a fight, but they were just playing.



When Marie went to Mesa Vista Country Market to stock up on ingredients, she overhead her friend Rebecka Rossi talking to Tiffany Zarubin.
"How are things in the Garden Club?”
“Very slow. As you can imagine, there isn't an abundance of gardens around here.”



That conversation gave Marie an idea, and she opened her bakery. She was going to need some serious dough.



“You got any fresh cookies here?”
“You expect me to sell any other kind? They’re in the case on the right.”



Being Knowledge, Marie had two bolts with quite a few of the men in Mesa Vista.
“How’s it going, Phil?”
“Uh…”



Yeah, Phil Jitmakusol was kind of shy.



Business started picking up.



“I’m giving you a Best of the Best Award.”
Yes!



And the dough started rolling in...



When things started getting out of hand, Marie hired Ramin Johnston to help restock her goodies.



At Level 6, Marie added another display case.



It was a good session, and Marie closed Just Desserts, leaving it fully stocked for next the week.



Jihoon was another guy she had two bolts for, but two bolts were a dime a dozen for Marie - none of them stood out as being particularly special.



So instead, she put her plan into action.



She now had her bronze gardening badge. She was pleased to be able to grow her own strawberries for her pies.



I’m pretty sure this is a lemon tree.



Yep, Marie had it all together.



“Smells yummy,” said Madeleine Mazza.



Her garden was tended, she had plenty of baked goods in her inventory, her skills were completely maxed the previous week…
Now what?



“Very good, I’ll see you tomorrow.”






Meet Gabriel, now Gabriel Sims.
To distinguish his name from Gabriella Newson's, I’m just going to call him Gabe.



He and Marie caught on like a house afire.



“Now, the lady has funny hair, but she gives good haircuts.”



“Oh my gosh, Marie, he’s so cute. Look at those eyes!”



Yes! Yvette got her bronze styling badge. Maybe she can start charging for makeovers when I play her again.



After stopping at Outside Outfitters for some new clothes, they went to Pagoda Sushi for lunch.
“Are the robots here yet?”
Sssh. Spoiler alert ;)



Marie was going to town now…



“Cool yard!”

There wasn’t enough room for playground equipment, so Gabe got to test a mini trampoline created by NixNivis at MTS instead. He liked it and it builds Body.






Now Marie felt ready to call the Garden Club.



She added more landscaping and some stuff from Buy Mode that she thought they would appreciate.



That’s the second electrocution for Mesa Vista. Marie has also had a burglary and a fire. What luck!



Yum! Gabe happily stepped in to harvest the strawberries while Marie recuperated.



The Garden Club arrived, and so far, so good...









And the verdict was…



Marie got in, but didn't get a Wishing Well. I didn’t know that was possible.



Until Marie could get another inspection, we’ll have to settle for some more Gabe spam.









Yep, he’s officially adorable.



Marie added a pond, a flower bed in the corner and some expensive statuary, which she could afford thanks to the cash perks from Just Desserts.



Here is the entire garden dolled up for the next Garden Club inspection. The house was also expanded to add Gabe’s bedroom in the front.
Marie called them over again.



While they waited, Jillian Adams came home with Gabe after school.



Oh man… after this, I found out you must wait 70 Sim hours between inspections -  it was going to be touch-and-go if Marie would get her Wishing Well before the end of the week.



While we waited yet some more, Moonshine, who is always a Doofus in my game, tried to play with the wrong cat.
“Un smelle vous finay.”
Just like Pepé Le Pew in a role reversal, non?



Sunday evening, just in the nick of time!






She made it! Sure, Marie had gone to bed, but I was excited enough for the both of us.



“I wish for someone who really stands out from the rest!”



We have a winner! Not. Seriously, I have rotten luck with the Gypsy, and now the Wishing Well.



Yeah yeah.



That was a whole lotta work for a whole lotta nada. I think they’ll just be friends.
(No offense to Prof Blair Wilsonoff. Though I have a plan where he might come in handy some day…)

Okay, I guess I lied about this being a shorter update (it actually has more pictures than the last one!), but I played it when I was still taking lots of pictures, and I really enjoyed trying to get her into the Garden Club. Beginning in Week 5, updates will be much shorter.

Even though there were more pictures the write as you go is easier isn't it?

Gabe is a cutie patootie. :)

I love her garden and how you have the small shaped beds. They have various levels of 'getting into the club' with the well being the highest level, so you can get in and just earn a few hundred. One time I had a lightning strike occur and the rotten club left saying I had an 'emergency on my lot' and they would return, except they refused due to the 'not enough time to grow' pop up and by the time they did come back my very healthy produce had been harvested! garden club = PITB!

It was a lot easier and more fun, but it still took a couple of days. I want to go even shorter in Week 5!

I learned a lot about the garden club, and I found I really do like designing Sim gardens (I avoid working on RL ones whenever possible :P). When my MV Sims getting old, I think a lot of them will be gardening :)

I did something that now I can't remember with Gabe's skintone, and now he's kind of pale, as in Maxis S2? Not sure what to do about that.

You can change that in simpe. Open him and then his DNA tab. Under there you will see his dominant skin; simply highlight and delete the code and paste in the code that you want. Is he sk3 or sk4?

I'm not sure what skintone, 3 or 4 or somewhere in between, since it was a custom skin. Thanks for tip, I'll give it a try!

The codes are about 3/4 of the way down. http://laridian.livejournal.com/1025046.html I have another page saved somewhere, but that one shows a lot more stuff. You only need to change the dominant skin code. If you want a custom one you will need to open another sim with the skin you want him to have and copy it off that other sim.

Hi Jo, wanted to let you know I fixed Gabe's skintone as well as a couple of my other familys' eyes after being dumb and deleting some of my CC. Tracked down most of the CC and made the necessary changes in SimPE, then for the eyes, changed their appearance in the mirror and everybody looks right again!

By "shorter" you meant "less work and more fun to write" of course. I understood you. ;)

It looks like Marie is doing well now that one little hole in her life has been filled. And on a vaguely related note, Moonshine is a good kitty, isn't he?

I can't really picture Marie romantically with anybody. She seems quite happy with Gabe and Moonshine. I love watching Sim cats around the house.

Hooray for another update! I'm glad that the shorter updates thing seems to be working for you. :)

Aww, Gabe is such a cutie. I'm glad he, Marie and Moonshine are getting along well.

Also congrats on the wishing well! It's been kind of tough for me, I've usually needed at least a few tries to get it.

Too bad about the professor, but oh well, sometimes the luck with the well isn't that great...

I always have a hard time getting the well, and seeing this house, I think my problem is that I don't fence my gardens, so the whole lot counts (everything that is outside). I'll have to test it and hopefully, that's the key.
With this, I'm also all caught up (sorry about the mail spam with all these belated comments). You're doing great with this challenge!

That's a good observation about the fence. I put one on Marie's lot because I thought she might get extra points for it.
