Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas!

I originally made this little ditty as a sort of "thank you" for Little Nemo, who introduced me to Winsor McCay's enchanting "Little Nemo in Slumberland" comic strip, which I managed to read in its entirety last year.

And then I thought, hey, this would also be a cute way to pass on some holiday cheer to my LJ friends.





"Oh! We must be at the North Pole, that is the biggest nutcracker I have ever seen!"
"Look, what a cute little snowman that is!"
"Santa has been very busy this year!"



"Oh! This is such a lovely place! The best place we have been yet!"
"I wish we could stay here forever!"



"I am glad this mushroom forest isn't scary like the other one."
"Tag, you're it!"



"Look, Neil! The deer aren't afraid of us."
"It is because they are from Santa's forest."



"Oh! Look, those two are having such fun!"
"Let's put on our skates, too!"



"Hurry, Neil!"



"Oh! It is a little hard to stand up out here!"



"We can hold hands to keep from falling!"



"We are twirling, Neil!"
"Oh! Let's twirl faster!"



"This is fun!"
"I do not think we have to hold hands any longer!"



"We can do it! We are skating by ourselves!"



"Oh!"
"Oh!"
"I do not like to fall."
"Here, I will help you up," said the pretty lady they had seen earlier.



"Don't let falling stop you. Everyone falls sometimes."
"I have never skated before!"
"This is my first time skating too, Neil!"
"You are both very good skaters!"



"Wait for me, Neil, you are going too fast!"



"Hello again!"



"Oh! I can't stop, Neil, can you?"
"Help! We can't stop! We are going too fast!"




Then suddenly, everyone was falling right and left.



"Oh! Why can't we stay up anymore?!"





"What was that? Oh! Santa's skating rink is too fast!"

Merry Christmas, Jo! How do you usually celebrate?

For the last few years we stay at home so that my mum and dad can spend Christmas with us. My parents are fairly old and live just down the road so that works out well. DH parents and brother who live an hour away all come over too, so our house is where we all have Christmas lunch. Mostly cold meat and salads, because it's the middle of summer and usually very, very hot! So far this year it's been mild, so I hope it continues. :)

Right now my kids are counting down the sleeps! :D Father Christmas aka me, better get her wrapping roller skates on. ;)
