Hello again, I'm back with new Mesa Vista update!

Welcome back to Mesa Vista, where we again visit the London household.
To recap the previous week for aspiring Hall of Famer Brandon London, things hadn’t work out between him and Yvette Tan, the owner of Re-Nu-Yu Salon, and by the end of the week she had moved out of his place into her own.

It didn’t help that Rebecka Rossi had hugged Brandon romantically while Yvette was working her tail off giving free makeovers trying to drum up a clientele for her new salon.

Yvette in turn had lured Rebecka into accepting one of her grand opening “specials.”

Back to this week, Brandon was understandably going through a brief mourning period after the breakup.

It didn’t last very long though, and in typical Romance fashion, Brandon rolled a want to throw a party and get back to the dating scene.

Naturally, Rebecka Rossi was at the top of his list of invites, knowing she had never made any bones about her interest in him.

Definitely a class act, was Rebecka.
Anyway, Brandon also invited his neighbors the Shins and Marie Sims to his little gathering.

And his ex Yvette too, rolling a want hoping that they could be friends again.

Brandon glanced furtively at Yvette when Rebecka unceremoniously hopped onto his lap.
“Um, I really should talk to Yvette. Why don’t you check out my new hot tub?”

“Sorry, that was dumb of me to invite you and, uh…”
“Rebecka.”
“… Yes. The last thing I want to do is hurt you. I was hoping we could be friends.”
“Funny, I’m not feelin’ very friendly at the moment.”
“May I remind you that you broke up with me? You’re the one who left.”
“Yes, and it was the right thing to do. Don’t mean it don’t hurt.”

“So, that’s a really… interesting makeover, Rebecka,” Diane Shin commented.

“I suspected it wasn’t just me. But Re-Nu-Yu has such a good reputation, I wondered...”

“Anytime you want a re-do, Rebecka, please feel free to stop by. I have m’ bronze stylin’ badge now, I’m learnin’ lotsa new techniques,” Yvette said ominously.
“Okay, thanks,” Rebecka replied, vowing to never voluntarily set foot in Re-Nu-Yu Salon ever again.

“That was an awkward encounter,” Stephan said.

Brandon got his Roofraiser, and the next morning cleaned up the after-party mess, though he was itching to do something else entirely.

Which was invite Rebecka over again, and when she greeted him with a dirty joke, he realized something profound (for him).

Rebecka was fun.

She was totally into him.

And she was unabashedly happy just being with him.

Things weren’t complicated with her.

Yvette was a wonderful person but also baffling to Brandon, but Rebecka felt right in every way.

So she just had to move in, of course, and brought a respectable §4,000 with her.
Since going to Re-Nu-Yu was out of the question, Rebecka went back to her original hairstyle, the ponytail she could do in her sleep. She also found a dress at Outside Outfitters that emphasized her blue eyes, and rather surprisingly became quite a stunner!
“Yvette Tan, eat your heart out.”

One thing I'm interested in is seeing what my Mesa Vista residents buy from the local businesses when they're not being played. Rebecka had been shopping at Shin's Orient and bought four lamps, two wardrobes, two coffee tables, two plants and a mirror from there. She had also purchased two Clean Bots from Steve Burns' Droids store. The rest was normal townie inventory stuff.

Brandon, on the other hand, couldn't seem to resist Marie Sims' baked goodies from Just Desserts. He'd also purchased a bed from Nemo's Slumberland (Really, a single? What kind of Romance Sim was he?!). The rest was unused stuff that came with the house he'd bought.

Rebecka had another great thing going for her: guess what her LTW is?
OMG SQUEEEE, she was Mesa Vista’s first aspiring Oceanographer!

“But Mesa Vista is hundreds of miles from any ocean.”
Heh, silly little details.
“As a Knowledge Sim, I can’t just ignore a fact like that.”

Oh yes, she could. First, Rebecka purchased a community lot.

And then went on a date to build her aspiration, build Brandon’s aspiration for his next day at work, and get enough aspiration points for an Energizer.

‘Cause Rebecka was goin’ fishin’.
“Er… not in a frozen lake, I’m not, and that’s a fact.”
D’OH!

Okay, first time I’ve ever broken out the Weathernaught.
“I think Summer…”

… and instantly, Rossi Fine Fishing had fish and everything!

Rebecka set her admission price to very cheap and did very little selling, since her main goal was to get a gold fishing badge which would open up a position in Oceanography for her.

Yvette's stalking was starting to get a little creepy, and Rebecka wondered what it would take to put a stop to it.
Sorry, no one in Law Enforcement yet.
"Then we should get one."

Rebecka decided she’d better greet the head witches to stave off any roaches they might leave in their wake, and it worked.

Speaking of witches… nah, I do like Yvette, but she first came to the lot to pick a fight, and overall she’s less fun/more serious than I expected. After I canceled a couple of “be poked”s in Rebecka’s queue, Yvette gave up and settled for playing chess with one of Mesa Vista’s green energy Servas. Over the course of the session, she gave Rossi Fine Fishing a surprising two loyalty stars.

“I’m very interested in becoming a witch. Perhaps you can tell me more about the craft and catch a fish or two for yourself in the process?”
No. Rebecka was not going to become a witch.

Hmm, perhaps Rebecka knew what she was doing after all…

So, nine days…

Four Servos…

Six friends…

One barbecue fire (which I didn’t see how it started so I’m not counting it for anything)…

Sixty-six fish and four boots…

… a business rank of three, and zero badge icons over her head later, Rebecka had opened a slot for herself in Oceanography!

Meanwhile at home, Brandon correctly deduced Yvette still wasn’t ready to let bygones…

Rebecka returned home that same Tuesday ready to celebrate, though Oceanography did not come up on the computer.

It was all good though, she had skills to catch up on anyway…
(Yeah, way to stay classy!)

On Wednesday the job showed up, though her shift as a Dive Master didn’t begin until Thursday.

And she came home with a promotion.

And another one.

And another one.

Some on the same day!

And somewhere in between Brandon topped Athletic and became perma-plat as a Hall of Famer!
Now I have to figure out a good business for him.

Wow, Oceanography hours are awesome for multiple promotions!

By Monday, Rebecka had topped Oceanography and became perma-plat as well.
WOW. Six levels in five days. Hand(s) (of Poseidon) down, a record for me!
And Brandon is still picking up the pieces from his time with Yvette.

That’s all I have for Brandon and Rebecka. Sorry for the abrupt end, but it got pretty crazy at the end there :D Expect to see their kiddos in the following week!
Thanks for reading and Happy Simming!

Date: 2014-07-15 12:55 pm (UTC)Do you have the same problem as me, sims leave for work in their work clothes and come home in their everyday? I'm sure it's a mod, but I don't know what and I don't feel inclined to do a 50/50.

Date: 2014-07-29 04:17 am (UTC)EDIT: It's definitely something in my Hacks subfolder. I'll continue doing 50/50s over the next few days and let you know what the culprit is!

Date: 2014-07-15 06:41 pm (UTC)I like Rebecka. :) She's a bit... ahem, "classy"... sometimes but clearly she's fun, and smart. Hopefully she and Brandon work out better than Brandon and Yvette did.
Wow. That's a lot of badges, and a lot of promotions! Congratulations on unlocking and topping Oceanography!
That was a lot of fun. :) Looking forward to seeing the kids!

Date: 2014-07-29 04:30 am (UTC)I didn't really understand Yvette and her obsession with Brandon's love life, considering she showed hardly any interest in him when they were together!
It took so long to find a Sim in Mesa Vista who wanted to top Oceanography, I was pretty jazzed to get Rebecka her gold fishing badge. I never expected her to top the career in five days!
I'm looking forward to seeing their kids too, that should be interesting!

Date: 2014-07-21 10:21 pm (UTC)Wow, that has got to be the fastest set of promotions I have ever seen! O_O
A good business for a Hall of Famer... How about a gym, a sports bar, or a bakery (like Tim Horton's -- he was a hockey player, IIRC)?
Great job! :D

Date: 2014-09-25 04:18 am (UTC)The difference between playing Brandon with Yvette and Rebecka is like night and day, despite him having two bolts with each of them. Like my Homeless family, finding the right spouse made the household a lot more fun to play.
I kinda don't know what to do about Yvette. I just finished playing her week, and it was good and quite a lot happened, but she has not turned out to be the fun, lighthearted character I expected.
I'm sure glad I started following your tumblr, you take great pictures! It's a perfect little diversion while I'm at work. :)

Date: 2015-03-22 11:39 am (UTC)I know what you mean with Yvette, that's how I left my own BaCC a while ago, I introduced a new sim and her week was so boring and nothing happened, I think I didn't even save the game before I left!
Anyway, you're next on my list of friends journals to catch up on (beware, lol), glad to see you posted several updates :)

Date: 2015-03-22 03:51 pm (UTC)I'll keep trying to work with Yvette for a while, but if it continues to be a struggle with her, I probably won't bother to give her Elixir and let her count toward opening Paranormal at the cemetery(!) instead. (I'm basically using Elixir to double most of my Sims' adult life stages, as that seems to be more in line with the other stage lengths, even if the Sims look a bit young to have grown children and grandchildren, but whatevs...)
The race is on! I'm working on the new Burns/Green Energy update, I hope to finish it today or at the latest some time this coming week. *gets moving* :D
